Core principles

• School-led: the school's existing safeguarding policies always take precedence. The Foundry operates within them, never around them.
• Mentor screening: every mentor working with students is vetted to the standards the partner school requires, including Working with Children Checks where applicable.
• Supervised contact: all in-school mentor sessions take place with a teacher or staff member present. No unsupervised contact between mentors and individual students.
• Mentor code of conduct: all mentors agree to a written code covering communication boundaries, social-media conduct, and the proper reporting path for any safeguarding concern.
• Data & privacy: student data collected through the program is held to school standards. Students do not receive direct contact from mentors or program staff outside structured program touchpoints.
• Reporting path: any safeguarding concern raised by a student, parent, mentor or teacher is escalated to the school's designated safeguarding lead immediately and supported by the Foundry team.
• Review: the program's safeguarding posture is reviewed at the end of each cohort with the partner school, and updated as policies evolve.
